Shop Manager / Diesel Shop Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Shop Manager to lead our in-house diesel repair shop in Winnipeg Beach, Manitoba. This position is responsible for overseeing a team of 6+ mechanics and shop staff while ensuring all fleet repairs and maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
The ideal candidate is organized, hands-on, and capable of managing daily shop operations, assigning work, supporting technicians, and maintaining strong communication between management and the shop floor.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of the diesel repair shop
- Supervise and support a team of 6+ mechanics and shop staff
- Open, manage, and close work orders
- Assign and prioritize repair and maintenance tasks
- Ensure repairs and preventative maintenance are completed in a timely manner
- Maintain shop organization, cleanliness, and workflow efficiency
- Track and manage shop tools, equipment, and inventory
- Coordinate technician schedules and workload
- Communicate repair status and shop updates with management
- Train, mentor, and onboard new employees
- Assist with hiring and vetting new staff
- Ensure safety procedures and company standards are followed
- Help improve shop productivity and reduce downtime
Qualifications
- Previous experience managing a diesel or heavy-duty repair shop
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
- Experience with work orders and maintenance scheduling systems
- Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Experience in trucking, gravel, construction, or heavy equipment industries is considered an asset

- Red seal or journeymen certification
- Have own means of transportation to travel to and from Winnipeg Beach daily
- Must have over 5 years of Mechanic experience.
- Ability to sign mechanic safeties an asset
- Able to work day and night shifts of 8-10 hrs and occasional weekend
- Class 1 license an asset.
