Your new role
As a Jumbo Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and accurate drilling of underground development headings, services, and production-related openings using mechanized jumbo drilling equipment. Working as part of the underground development team, you will drill to approved patterns and mine plans, maintain equipment condition, identify and control hazards, and ensure drilling activities meet productivity, quality, and ground control standards. This role plays a critical part in advancing underground development while strictly adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
- Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core certification
- Minimum 5 years of underground mining experience, including jumbo drill operation
- Proven ability to read and follow drill plans, layouts, and engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of ground control principles and safe drilling practices
- Ability to identify hazards and make sound decisions in dynamic underground conditions
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
- Physical ability to perform demanding underground work, including lifting 50 lbs+, climbing, kneeling, and working in confined spaces
- Willingness to work rotating day/night shifts on a 7x7 or 14x14 schedule
- Ability to pass a pre-employment Fit-for-Duty assessment, including drug and alcohol testing
