Samsung's Mobile eXperience (MX) business in Canada is looking for a Director to lead our Brand Marketing pillar on a 14-month contract. This is a critical leadership role at a pivotal moment for the category – one that combines flagship device launches, breakthrough brand-building, and consumer-led growth strategy.
You will own the go-to-market brand strategy for our MX portfolio, lead integrated campaign development, steward our brand partnership ecosystem, and shape how Samsung shows up in the lives of Canadian consumers. You'll work alongside two peer directors leading Channel Marketing and Retail Experience & Training, and report directly to the Sr. Director II leading the function.
Role and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accountable for end-to-end MX brand marketing strategy and execution for flagship launches, always-on brand campaigns, and category-building initiatives across the Canadian market.
- Consumer segmentation strategy and its activation across campaigns, partnerships, and brand experiences.
- Brand partnership development and management, building programs that create genuine consumer value and extend Samsung's cultural relevance.
- Agency-of-record relationships across creative, media, PR, and social – including business reviews, briefing quality, and creative output.
- Campaign performance measurement and the feedback loop into future planning, in partnership with our analytics and insights resources.
- Leadership and development of the Brand Marketing team, including performance management, coaching, and building a team culture that attracts strong creative and strategic talent.
- Collaboration with Corporate Marketing, HQ (SEA and NAHQ), Channel Marketing, Retail Experience, Product Marketing, and Sales to ensure our brand work lands with impact across every touchpoint.
- Oversee and manage Division Marketing Communications budgets with an emphasis on establishing and following clear financial processes as prescribed by Finance and Audit teams.
Requirements
- Experience: 15+ years of progressive brand marketing experience with at least 5 years in a people leadership role. Consumer electronics, telecom, retail, or another fast-moving consumer category strongly preferred.
- Strategic brand builder: You've led national brand campaigns from insight to execution and can articulate the difference between brand-building and activation investment – and defend it in a room of commercial stakeholders.
- Partnership fluency: You've built or stewarded meaningful brand partnerships and programs that create genuine consumer value.
- Agency leadership: You know how to brief well, push back constructively, and get the best work out of creative and media partners.
- Analytical rigour: Comfortable using data, insights, and measurement to sharpen strategy and prove impact. You don't need to build the model, but you need to know what good looks like.
- Executive presence: You can present with clarity and conviction to senior leadership and cross-functional peers, and translate strategy into plans your team can execute against.
- Stakeholder navigator: Experience in matrixed, global organizations is a strong asset. You know how to move work forward across multiple layers of alignment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent an asset.
