LIVE – IN HOME SUPPORT WORKER / CARE GIVER
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Provide day to day care, support and companionship for a 10y/o child with severe quadriplegic cerebral palsy, global developmental delay and under seizure management medications.
- Administer bedside and personal care such as aid in transfers from wheel chair to bed and vice versa, bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing and undressing.
- Provide bedside monitoring and care at nighttime during sleep time, move child in different lying position, assist in sitting position when coughing or having difficulty breathing, record pulse rates and oxygen level.
- Plan and prepare meals and special diets, and feed or assist in feeding.
- May perform routine health-related duties such as changing non-sterile dressings, assisting in the administration of medications and collecting specimens under the general direction of home care agency supervisor or nurse
- May perform routine housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes, clean toilet, and making beds.
- Requires lifting up to 50kg. Carry child from 5-steps flight down to living room and place him on his wheel chair and back during his bedtime hours. Lifting from wheelchair to his standing frame or any mobility equipment. Lifting from bed to his commode or bath time. Child is approximately 30kg.
- Operate his eye-gaze equipment.
- Monitor the child’s supplies such as medication, milk, water bottle and diaper.
- Provide reports back to parents as required for day to day progress and incidents.
Qualifications:
1. Graduate of related medical fields, such as Nursing, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist Medical Technologies, Midwife.
2. Must have at least 2-years solid experience with working with children with similar disability.
3. Can work independently and fast-paced environment.
4. Advance skills in working with excel and word software, email correspondence.
5. Must have prior experience with working under home setting and living with family members. Must have skills and ability to fit and blend in within the family environment. Working experience overseas such as HongKong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia is a big asset.
6. Can work on broken hours and shifts.
7. Must be able to communicate with the child’s medical professional teams and home caregiver teams.
8. Must have valid driver’s license and have driven vehicle for at least 5years.
9. Preferred language spoken Tagalog and/or English.
10. Preferably single.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour

- Calgary, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
