Illuminated Escapes is Canada's first transparent, illuminated and Bluetooth-equipped kayak and paddleboard rental company, offering unique, immersive, and unforgettable experiences to Port Whitby Marina guests. As we embark on our sixth season, we are seeking a passionate and customer-oriented Crew Member to join our Whitby team.
As a Crew Member, you will be responsible for ensuring that our guests have a seamless and enjoyable experience. Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Daily site setup, including setting up equipment, signage and preparing the rental area for guests.
- Welcome all guests, validate and/or process online reservations via our booking system.
- Process payments via POS devices.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to customer inquiries, concerns, or directing them to the manager when necessary.
- Complete safety briefing for guests ensuring guest are knowledgeable about proper equipment usage, potential hazards, water safety, site boundaries etc.
- Help customers with their rental experience, helping them enter and exit rental equipment
- Prepare and receive returned rental equipment including cleaning, inspecting and maintaining equipment.
- Abide by company policies and procedures, report any hazards, damaged or broken equipment to the site Manager.
- Support Site Manager and Rescue Team in emergency situations for man over board situations
- Practice safe manual material handling techniques.
Qualifications / Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience working on teams, with heavy reliance on team to accomplish goals.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Some heavy lifting is required; must be able to lift up to 40 lbs (19 kg), bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods of time.
- Can swim / comfortable in water as employees may have to enter water up to their knees.
- Exposure to weather conditions such as heat, sun, rain, humidity may occur. Please note, work availability is weather permitting as we do not operate in heavy rain and/or windy conditions.
Preferred Certifications (Preferred But Not Required):
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C
- Current National Lifeguard (NL) Certification
- Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card (PCOC)
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Customer Service Training
- Ministry of Labour (MOL) Worker Health & Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
- Employee Customer Service Training for Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is preferred, but not required.
