Industrial Planerman
Parallel is a major construction contractor in Heavy Fabrication, Mechanical, Electrical and General-Construction. We provide product and service solutions to some of North America’s largest resource-based sectors including Forestry, Mining, Aggregate, Energy and Agriculture.
We are hiring experienced Planermen to support an After Sales Lumber Mill (Sawmill & Planer Mill) project in the USA. Applicant will have Planerman experience and solid understanding of Lumber manufacturing. Millwright expertise is a major asset. Familiarity with other trades is expected. Scope is field-based.
12 hour shifts daily. Minimum 84 hours per week. Typical turnaround is 3-4 weeks on, 2-3 weeks off. Hourly rate for Journeyman starts at $47/hour. Regular plus OT pay. Plus $150 USD Living Out Allowance (LOA) paid in Canadian equivalent for each day worked. Flights provided. Rental vehicles provided (ride-sharing with others). Travel Medical Insurance provided.

REQUIREMENTS

- Must have field experience in live Lumber Mills (Sawmills & Planer Mills)
- Must have experience with Industrial Planer Mill equipment
- Millwright experience a major asset.
- Excellent communication skills
- Dedicated to quality excellence with a superior work ethic
- Must be able to work unsupervised at times
- Must be drug free **
- Willing to work days, nights, weekends
- Current Safety or Training Certificates an asset (i.e. Fall Arrest, Aerial Platform, Forklift Operator)
- Red Seal Ticket an asset
SPECIFICS
- Adhere to all Parallel and Client Safety standards and governing regulations including lock-out procedures
- Increase the efficiency and manufacturing productivity of Lumber Mill
- Adhere to all Parallel and Client Safety standards and governing regulations including lock-out procedures
- Set up and maintain Planer and associated equipment
- Troubleshoot machinery and equipment and make accurate judgements to repair with minimal downtime
- Perform de-commissioning, commissioning, completions and start-up of equipment
- Remove and install industrial equipment including associated assembly, inspections and maintenance
- General, Emergency Maintenance, Overload and Shutdown Maintenance
- Ensure the operability and efficiency of Planer Mill manufacturing production.
- Provide maintenance consulting expertise to the client regarding equipment operations, general and emergency maintenance, shut down maintenance and operational governance.
- Perform Machine Centre Optimization.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with co-workers and Client
