Your Opportunity:
The Casual Operating Room Booking and Scheduling RN supports the existing Booking office team with the coordination of surgical scheduling activities and helps ensure patients are prepared for their upcoming procedures. Working collaboratively with surgeons' offices, the aCATS team, pre-admission clinic staff, and operational leaders, this role contributes to the efficient use of operating room resources and surgical beds while supporting high-quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Assist with the daily coordination and management of operating room schedules. Review patient readiness for surgery and identify outstanding pre-operative requirements. Coordinate and facilitate necessary pre-surgical testing and investigations. Collaborate with surgeons' offices, aCATS, and pre-admission clinics to support surgical prioritization and scheduling. Work with OR leadership, bed utilization teams, and Short Stay Surgery staff to optimize patient flow and bed availability. Support the efficient use of operating room time and resources. Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to address scheduling and patient care needs. Maintain accurate documentation and scheduling information within electronic health record systems. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and process enhancements as required. About this position: Casual position with shifts scheduled based on operational requirements. Frequent use of computers and telephones. Requires periods of sitting, walking, and movement throughout the hospital campus. Ability to travel between clinical areas across the UAH campus is required.

Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, you must complete the following free courses: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4), available at https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/learning-and-development/learning-modules/ and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification, available at https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience with Connect Care (Epic), OpTime, and the Surgery Scheduler module is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong computer, organizational, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Previous booking office or surgical scheduling experience is considered an asset. Perioperative nursing experience preferred. Knowledge of a broad range of surgical procedures is preferred. Familiarity with aCATS processes is an asset. Current or recent Operating Room experience is considered an asset.
