Landscape Driver
Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable, safety-focused Landscape Driver to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining professional job sites, and is comfortable combining vehicle operation with hands-on landscaping and physical labour. In this role, you will safely transport crew members, tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites while also supporting daily landscape construction and maintenance work. The successful candidate will be dependable, physically fit, and willing to perform a variety of manual tasks in changing weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
· Drive company trucks, vans, or trucks with trailers to transport crew members, landscaping tools, machines, and materials safely between the yard and job sites.
· Perform daily vehicle checks, including fuel level, lights, tires, trailer connections, and general cleanliness, and report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
· Load and unload materials such as soil, mulch, gravel, plants, sod, tools, and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift.
· Assist with manual landscaping labour, including digging, raking, shovelling, wheelbarrow work, spreading topsoil or mulch, planting shrubs and trees, laying sod, and site clean-up.
· Support landscape maintenance duties such as mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, weeding, watering, and debris removal as directed by the crew lead or supervisor.
· Help with site preparation by removing old materials, lifting and placing landscaping products, preparing ground surfaces, and organizing tools and supplies.
· Operate basic landscaping equipment safely, such as lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, compact equipment, or other assigned tools, based on experience and training.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times, including proper equipment handling and adherence to company safety procedures.
· Work closely with the crew to complete projects efficiently, stay on schedule, and deliver quality service to residential or commercial clients.
· Perform physically demanding work throughout the day, including repeated lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, walking on uneven ground, and working in hot, cold, wet, or dusty conditions.
Qualifications and Requirements
· Valid driver’s licence with a clean or acceptable driving record.
· Experience driving work trucks and trailers is a strong asset.
· Previous landscaping, grounds maintenance, construction, or outdoor labour experience preferred.
· Ability to lift heavy materials and perform repetitive physical tasks safely throughout the workday.
· Comfort working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
· Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and clients.
· Knowledge of safe loading, unloading, and equipment handling practices is an asset.
· Punctual, dependable, and committed to quality workmanship and safe driving habits.
Work Conditions
This role involves regular outdoor work and physical manual labour. Candidates should expect early starts, travel between job sites, and the need to perform physically active tasks for extended periods. The position may require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy items, as well as working around landscaping equipment, trailers, and materials. Flexibility for seasonal demands and changing weather conditions is important.
