Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children. This position requires a strong commitment to early childhood development, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with children of diverse needs. The Registered Early Childhood Educator will collaborate with families, colleagues, and specialists to promote positive learning experiences and support children's growth and development.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement engaging educational activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in young children.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
- Observe and assess each child's progress, documenting developmental milestones and communicating findings with families and team members.
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting activities and providing individualized care plans in collaboration with specialists.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, development reports, and other documentation required by licensing standards.
- Foster effective communication with children, parents, colleagues, and external professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to early childhood education.
- Uphold health and safety standards within the classroom, including proper hygiene practices and emergency procedures.
- Utilize computer skills for record-keeping, reporting, and communication purposes.
- Plan and lead engaging activities for children that support learning and development.
- Be ready and willing to participate in and supervise field trips and outdoor experiences.
- Must be flexible and available to work any shift scheduled between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
- Must hold Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 certification (Alberta certification required).
- Must provide a current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
Qualifications
- Valid registration as an Early Childhood Educator with relevant licensing authorities.
- Proven experience working with children in classroom settings or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles, child development stages, and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership qualities while working collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in computer operation for documentation, planning, and communication tasks.
- Effective time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities efficiently.
