Temporary Workplace Signer (TWS)
Job Description:
Bourque Security Security Services NS is seeking hard-working, dependable, and safety-oriented workers to join our traffic control team. As a Temporary Workplace Signer, you shall be responsible for assisting and the directing of traffic through our temporary workplaces with assigned TCPs under your the supervision and in accordance with the Nova Scotia Traffic Control Manual (NSTCM).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work under the direction of the Traffic Control Coordinator and in accordance with Company Policies and the NSTCM.
- Direct, assist, and supervise the setting up signs, bases, cones, and other equipment used in temporary workplaces for construction/maintenance and utility work.
- Choose & follow the correct Application Guides, setup & tear down procedures for signs and delineators according to the NSTCM.
- Complete and sign a hazard assessment form (BSSNS Planning & Preparation Checklist) for each temporary workplace and a daily toolbox talk with your designated TCPs.
- Ensure required daily company vehicle mileage forms are completed and signed.
- Ensure all BSSNS Vehicle procedures and rules are followed.
- Upon pickup, ensure assigned TCPs have a valid TCP certificate on their person and required PPE for each shift.
- Ensure you have your valid TWS & TCP certificate on your person and required PPE for each shift.
- Ensure correct and sufficient equipment is available and taken to the job site.
- Maintain company radios for daily use. Test prior to each shift.
- Periodically inspect temporary workplaces under your supervision to ensure safe operation. Adjust them accordingly as required.
- Maintain professional communication with your assigned TCPs. Address concerns effectively and efficiently. Be Fair, Firm, and Friendly.
- Ensure all equipment is picked up upon completion of each job.
- Safely direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic through the Temporary Workplace.
- Maintain a professional & polite attitude with the public and clients at all times.
- Allow work to proceed safely and efficiently.
- Report all unsafe work situations and conditions to the Traffic Control Coordinator.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be of good physical and mental alertness.
- Must be of mature judgement.
- Must be of pleasant, cooperative manner.
- Must be able to lift and move objects of 50lbs.
- Must be able to navigate the Nova Scotia Traffic Control Manual.
- Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively.
- Provide and maintain a good Driver's Abstract
Certifications:
- Drivers License (Required)
- Nova Scotia TCP Certificate (Required)
- First Aid Course (Preferred)
- WHMIS (Preferred)
Starting Wage:
As per this job ad and based upon experience.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
