The Quatsino Early Years Centre is looking for an enthusiastic, caring, and dependable Responsible Adult Educator to join our childcare team. Working alongside our Early Childhood Educators and school staff, you will help create a safe, engaging, and culturally enriching environment for children from infancy to school age.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and is interested in pursuing or expanding a career in Early Childhood Education. We are committed to supporting the successful candidate in obtaining their Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certification, if not already certified.
As a Responsible Adult Educator, you will:
Support the delivery of engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences and activities.
Assist with before and after-school programming, daily routines, outdoor play, story time, and creative activities.
Help provide a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment where every child feels supported.
Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities while promoting healthy development.
Prepare nutritious snacks and maintain a clean and organized childcare environment.
Incorporate Quatsino culture, traditions, and values into daily programming whenever possible.
Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and community partners.
Work collaboratively with the Early Years team to ensure smooth transitions between childcare and the school day.
Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to continuous program improvement.
The ideal candidate will have:
Grade 12 (or equivalent).
Completion of Responsible Adult and is working towards their ECE-A.
At least 3 months of recent experience working with children or youth.
A genuine passion for supporting children's growth and development.
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
Knowledge of child development and the BC Early Learning Framework is considered an asset.
Valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
Food Safe Certificate (asset)
Class 5 Driver's Licence with a satisfactory driver's abstract (asset)
Successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
