We are currently seeking a Heavy-Duty Technician / Mechanic to perform both in-shop service and field (road) service calls. You’ll start by working primarily in our shop, with the opportunity to expand into more field-based work as you gain experience with CTOS equipment and as demand for field service grows in the area.

Journeyman Alberta Skilled Trades Ticket or Red Seal, Heavy Duty Truck

Monday - Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm. (overtime as needed)

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on utility trucks and equipment, including hydraulics, electrical systems, and diesel engines.

CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) experience preferred.

Travel as needed.

Must hold a Class 5 valid driver’s Licenses. (Class 1 or 3 a plus)

Essential Duties:

Reports to the Service Manager, who will provide a brief description of issues and supporting information related to the vehicle.

Read and interpret equipment manuals and repair orders/instructions to perform required maintenance and service. (Must have the ability to utilize a laptop, etc. to be able to access needed information and perform diagnostic tests.)

Performs work as outlined in work instructions set forth by Service Manager; efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with Custom Truck One Source standards.

Diagnosis and repair of Utility Trucks and Equipment.

Experience troubleshooting and repair of Utility trucks & Equipment including electrical and hydraulics.

Inspect and services vehicles and make repairs and adjustments both at the service center and in the field.

Verify work performed, road test vehicles, as necessary.

Prepare inspection reports, repair orders (recording service time and parts costs) and timecards completely and accurately.

Tag all warranty and core parts for return.

Advises management immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised.

Attends CTOS safety training and follows all safety requirements.

Attend CTOS and factory-sponsored training classes.

Understand and follow federal, province and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste.

Communicate easily with customers and internal departments to ensure minimal equipment downtime.

Flexibility to travel beyond the area of coverage, based on business need.

Work closely with the Service Manager to grow and improve customer satisfaction.

Additional duties or responsibilities as designated by the Service Manager.
Preferred Skills:
-
Electrical, schematic / blueprints, hydraulic, welding, and related experience
-
Experience with Quick Serve, DTNA, or related diagnostic software.

CVIP, ANSI, and Dielectric testing desired
Basic Skills:
-
High School Diploma, provincially approved High School Equivalency, or GED
-
Journeyman or Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician - Off Road and/or On Road is desired.

Basic computer skills with Microsoft office

You must hold a valid driver’s license.

You must have your own tools.

Physical effort to move objects and tools; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling and a high level of dexterity.
