A Veterinary Kennel Assistant & Patient Support position is available at a high volume non-profit veterinary hospital in Kitchener, ON. While previous cleaner experience is a definite asset, your passion for cleaning, organizing, being flexible in a busy day, helping and supporting people in a team environment are at the top of our must-have list. The East Village Animal Hospital is run as a non-profit, serving low income families, animal rescues / shelters, and Trap Neuter Return programs.
Our Veterinary Kennel Assistant & Patient Support will be responsible for ensuring daily duties are completed to ensure our clinic remains a clean environment from top to bottom, all rooms and all surfaces. Veterinary Kennel Assistant & Patient Support tasks include but not limited to scrubbing and sanitizing kennels/cages, surgical instrument care + preparation, sorting and organizing supplies including medications and donations, and working with the EVAH team to contribute to the overall operations of the Clinic as needed. As a Veterinary Kennel Assistant & Patient Support you will be responsible for general cleaning to eliminate cross contamination of any soil, bacteria, and/or virus under the direction of the hospital manager. Individual must be comfortable with working on their feet for long periods of time; and a reasonable degree of agility. This job will require lifting heavy items like dog food bags & boxes with help. Must be comfortable around dogs and cats, of all size and behaviours and varying health concerns. The ideal candidate will be able to professionally handle the occasional frustrating or emotional situation as can occur in a fast paced veterinary clinic day, and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
You must have availability to work Monday to Friday between the hours of 11am-7pm, with some flexibility. Join our veterinary clinic team and be part of making a difference in the lives of animals, and lower income families, every day.
