We currently have an opening for a Internal Communications Specialist, 6 month contract come grow with us!
Reporting to the Director, Communications, Government & Community Relations, the successful candidate will support the planning, development, and delivery of employee communications to ensure employees—across office, hybrid, and shop floor environments—receive clear, timely, and relevant information.
You will play a key role in translating business priorities into engaging communications that support operational awareness, culture and values, sustainability, and community initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Internal Communications Planning & Publishing (35%)
- Draft, edit, and publish employee communications across platforms including SharePoint, Viva Engage, Microsoft Teams, email, and presentations
- Support development of FAQs, video scripts, and town hall materials
- Maintain an editorial calendar to ensure timely, coordinated, and aligned messaging
Channel Governance & Continuous Improvement (25%)
- Support implementation of communication standards, channel guidelines, and best practices
- Monitor channel activity and engagement metrics
- Recommend practical improvements to enhance reach, clarity, and effectiveness
Business Priority & Campaign Communications (20%)
- Develop communications supporting operational updates, capacity expansion, culture and values initiatives, sustainability, and community programs
- Translate complex business information into clear, audience-appropriate messaging
- Tailor communications for employees, managers, supervisors, and site leaders
Manager & Site Communications Support (15%)
- Prepare talking points, briefing notes, FAQs, and cascade materials for leaders
- Support consistency of messaging across teams and locations
- Help build and maintain a network of site leaders to strengthen local communication flow
Coordination & Stakeholder Support (5%)
- Coordinate content inputs, approvals, translations (as needed), and publishing timelines
- Support town halls and recurring communication programs
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment
Do you qualify? We are seeking:
- 2–5 years of experience in internal communications, employee communications, public relations, change communications, or a related field
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills
- Proven ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences
- Experience using platforms such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage, email, and PowerPoint
- Exposure to executive communications is considered an asset
- Familiarity with emerging tools, including the use of AI in communications, is an asset
- Sound judgment regarding tone, timing, confidentiality, and channel selection
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders and leadership teams
Assets:
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site environment
- French Canadian and/or Spanish language coordination experience
- Change Management certification (e.g., Prosci/ADKAR) or practical change communications experience

At Hammond Power Solutions (HPS), we provide market‑competitive compensation that reflects performance, skills, and current market conditions. For this role, the base salary range is $71,600.00 to $107,400.00 annually, with final offers determined by experience, qualifications, and role complexity.
