The Ceremonies and Events Office (C&E) advances Simon Fraser University's strategic vision of engagement by producing and managing key university celebrations and milestone events including convocation and the university's high-profile presidential, institutional, advancement, alumni, ceremonial, government and partner events. Delivering approximately 70 events annually, locally, nationally and internationally, the department also ensures that ceremony and event protocols and traditions are maintained at events.
About the Role
The Event Data and Systems Coordinator provides operational and technical leadership for the Ceremonies and Events (C&E) department’s data-driven work. The role coordinates complex event data processes, leads systems and workflow improvements and supports the successful delivery of university ceremonies and other high-profile events with significant institutional visibility. The role maintains data integrity within the departmental database and oversees event-related data configuration, reporting, registration systems and post-event reconciliation. The role provides training and functional guidance to staff, exercises independent judgment in resolving complex data and process issues and supports interactions with a broad range of stakeholders in a manner that supports SFU’s strategic priorities and upholds SFU’s reputation.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience with CRM systems, including Blackbaud CRM, and advanced Excel skills. They possess strong knowledge of event planning and execution best practices, exceptional attention to detail, and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. An excellent communicator, they have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders, including high-profile individuals. They are highly organized, collaborative, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
