Overview
We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of telecommunication systems both in the Utility industry and outside of the Utility industry to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer networking, electrical systems, and low-voltage wiring, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will be working in Alberta and throughout British Columbia. Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Ethernet networks, As well as various other Telecommunications support equipment such as 48Vdc power plants, MPLS routers, Firewall equipment, switches, Site alarm equipment.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Microwave Radio links.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Fiber Optic systems. (OPGW as well as in building fiber.)
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot client DMR equipment associated with our IP Connected DMR Network, and stand-alone systems.
- Perform wiring and cabling for telecommunication and low-voltage systems using hand tools
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of telecommunication equipment to ensure proper operation
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to computer networking, electrical connections, and mechanical components
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute system upgrades or expansions
- Document system configurations, repairs, and maintenance activities accurately
- Adhere to safety standards and electrical codes during installation and repair processes
Skills
- Strong understanding of Ethernet, computer networking, and telecommunication systems
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment installation and maintenance
- Proficiency with hand tools used in wiring, cabling, and equipment assembly
- Experience working with low-voltage wiring and electrical systems
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and Nokia MPLS routers.
- Knowledge of electrical principles relevant to telecommunications infrastructure
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and documenting work processes
- Utility Telecommunications experience would be an Asset.
- RF Radio would be an Asset but not mandatory.

Pay: $52,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
