Safety Coordinator – Concrete Manufacturing

V.J. Rice Concrete is a well-established concrete manufacturer serving Nova Scotia with a broad range of products including ready mix, concrete block, pipe and manholes, retaining walls, septic tanks, and other precast products. We have locations in Bridgetown, Kentville, Mt. Uniacke, and Shelburne, plus periodic remote job sites across the province.
We’re looking for a Safety Coordinator to maintain and oversee our long-established health and safety program — someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and isn’t afraid to be the person who makes sure things are done right.
What you’ll be doing:
We have a solid safety program in place. Your job is to keep it running well — conducting site inspections and audits, leading incident investigations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and updating procedures as our operations evolve. You’ll work directly with plant staff, drivers, and management to maintain our strong safety culture across all locations.
You’ll also take on responsibility for dispatch and logistics coordination for our fleet of trucks hauling precast products. This means working with drivers and customers to schedule deliveries, manage routes, and keep things moving efficiently — often on tight timelines and across varying site conditions.
What we’re looking for:
We’ll provide the necessary training, so the right attitude and work ethic matter more than a specific background. That said, the following will help:
∙ Some experience in a construction, manufacturing, or industrial environment
∙ Strong communication and organizational skills
∙ Comfort working across multiple locations and adapting to changing priorities
∙ Experience with transportation or logistics is an asset
∙ Knowledge of Nova Scotia OH&S regulations, or willingness to learn
∙ Safety certification (CRSP, NCSO, or similar) is a plus but not required

Pay: $24.00-$27.00 per hour
