We currently have an opportunity for an HR Generalist to join our team in Steinbach, MB. Barkman has team members across four provinces (MB/SK/AB/BC), and you will have the opportunity to connect with all of our team members. With a broad range of responsibilities, your alignment with corporate policy, practices, and values will assist you in providing quality internal customer service. Spending dedicated time in both the office and production to understand the company’s functions, job roles, and various work environments that we have here at Barkman.

As an HR Generalist, your day at Barkman may include but is not limited to:
- Facilitating and partnering in all HR services, maintaining knowledge of legislation, and best practices
- Recruiting; partnering with the hiring manager to fill open positions focused on professional, technical, and leadership positions
- Partnering and connecting with leaders to answer questions, providing guidance in key areas including employee engagement, coaching, recruitment planning, and performance management
- Providing guidance and support to employees who have questions regarding employment, benefit inquiries, internal job posting, etc.
- Assisting with projects which may include job descriptions, employee feedback, policy review and updates, drafting documents, continuous improvement initiatives, and training programs
- Travel to our Winnipeg facility as needed, with possible travel to our Alberta and BC facilities
- Other HR duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have:
- Education in Human Resource Management, or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience within Human Resources
- Understanding of legislation and regulation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with effective prioritizing and follow-up
- Continuous improvement focus
- Excellent computer knowledge using office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Valid Driver’s license to travel to Barkman facilities
- Flexibility to accommodate interview times, training, and employee meetings as needed
- Experience in a manufacturing or construction work environments is an asset
