Job Summary:
The Rural Municipality of Sarnia No. 221 is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to join our Public Works team as an Equipment Operator. No previous equipment experience is required — we are willing to train the right candidate. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on outdoor work, takes pride in serving the community, and is eager to learn a wide range of municipal operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the operation of municipal equipment such as graders, tractors, mowers, loaders, and trucks (training provided)
- Support road maintenance activities including grading, gravel work, culvert maintenance, and seasonal tasks
- Perform general labour duties as needed (sign installation, shop work, yard maintenance, etc.)
- Follow safety procedures and municipal policies at all times
- Work collaboratively with the Foreman and Public Works team to meet community needs
- Perform other duties assigned by the foreman or council.
- Adhere to safety protocols.
Skills:
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn municipal equipment and procedures
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when required
- Physically capable of performing manual labour
- Valid driver’s licence (Class 1A or 3A is an asset but not required)
