RockHaven Children’s Services Inc. is a Treatment Foster Care Agency that has been working closely with Children’s Aid Societies within Ontario for the past 22 years, providing family-based care to children and youth. RockHaven currently is looking for Foster Parents to provide care for 1- 4 children/youth in their own home.
Each Foster Parent is provided with full orientation, regular training sessions and 24/7 support to ensure the children/youth in your care have a safe, stable and nurturing home environment. Foster Parents are provided with 24hour on call support, competitive compensation, paid relief, 2 weeks of paid vacation as well as the support of a CYC worker.
RockHaven will train the applicant to ensure they have all of the skills and knowledge in order to care for children/youth in their care. Having experience working with children who display challenging behaviours is an asset.
All applicants must be able to provide a clear Broad Record police check as well as a satisfactory CAS background check. You must have a valid Class G driver’s licence as well as your own transportation. A home study will also be complete as part of the process to becoming a Foster Parent.

SUMMARY
RockHaven Children’s Services Treatment Foster Care (TFC) provides a safe, stable and nurturing home environment for children and youth who have emotional or behavioral needs. We are a family-based residential treatment program that allows the child to experience healthy parent-to-child relationships in an environment that promotes growth and healing.
We are seeking Foster Parents who are able to provide care for 1- 4 children/youth in your home. Support from a CYC based on each child/youths individual needs. 24/7, 365 day on call support. Competitive and generous compensation that is a tax free per diem.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Maintain a clean and organized home providing nutritious meals and a warm, welcoming environment
· Provide care and supervision to meet the child/youth’s needs and collaboratively work with RockHaven and other community resources in achieving the treatment goals set out by RockHaven/Children’s Aid Societies.
· Complete thorough daily logs and documentation
· Liaison with management and on call to report any concerns with the youth in your care
· Attend regular and/or special medical, optical, and dental appointments of the child/youth
· To share with RockHaven all information about the child's progress or difficulties in his/her daily living, health or adjustment to the home, school, or community
· Medication administration and monitoring
· Document important moments in the child/youth's life
· Responsible for the child/youth’s transportation
· Teach life skills and social skill development
· Professional communication with co-workers/foster parents, CYC’s, social workers
· Encourage and supervise school attendance, attend teacher conferences and keep your supervisor within RockHaven up to date regarding any educational needs and/or changes
· Support and encourage the child/youth’s participation in school, leisure time, community activities and his/her own interests
· Attend all case planning conferences and administrative case reviews to offer input regarding the child/youth in your home
· To engage with the child/youth’s biological family as directed to encourage a positive relationship and facilitate reunification
· To respect final decisions made by RockHaven/Children’s Aid Society or court if they can be validated as in the best interest of the child/youth
· To comply with all legislation, regulations and Provincial Standards concerning foster care and children/youth in care
· Adhere to all Ministry and RockHaven requested trainings to support both personal and professional development
· Adhere to RockHaven’s Policies and Procedures/Program Description as set out by the Ministry.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
· Experience working with children and youth who may have emotional, physical, trauma, behavioural and social challenges would be an asset
· Educational background in working with special need children/youth and/or social services is an asset
· Must be adaptable and flexible to change for any unplanned situations that may arise
· Strong decision-making skills and be able to effectively problem solve
· Behavioural management skills an asset
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills
· Strong ability to build supportive and productive relationships with all parties involved
· Have a genuine care and concern for the child/youth’s well-being and a desire to make a difference in their life
· Excellent organizational skills
· Must have a valid class G driver’s licence, driver’s abstract, Broad Record police check, CAS background check, medical
All successful applicants with be provided all necessary training (CPR/First Aid, NVCI, PRIDE, Cultural Competency Training, TIC training, Kujali) and orientation. Applicants will also have a home study complete.
