The Opportunity:
The Social Worker reports to Under One Sky’s Health Director and works closely with the programs and services team. The successful applicant will work with clients to identify appropriate resources and recognize and respond appropriately to individuals who are in crisis using a trauma-informed and culturally grounded approach. The Social Worker will ensure people are connected to the right services quickly and easily and that barriers to services are reduced whenever possible.
Responsibilities:
- Provide culturally sensitive case management and support to individuals, families, and groups within our community.
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with clients, incorporating cultural practices and community resources.
- Monitor and record client progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Connect clients with community resources, such as support groups and social services.
- Advocate for clients within various systems, including healthcare, social services, and legal systems.
- Build relationships with the community and collaborate with those providing existing community-based services.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client interactions, progress, and outcomes.
- Adapt to ever-changing client and organizational needs.
- Supervise and guide outreach staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Superior written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Problem solving – able to make independent service decisions.
- Collaboration and teamwork – enjoy working both independently and as a member of team on new and existing services and special projects.
- Knowledge of best practices in trauma informed mental health (e.g., crisis intervention, risk assessment, anti-racism, gender-based violence, suicide prevention, harm reduction).
- Ability to function independently while managing multiple projects and deadlines including effectively managing emergency situations.
- Uphold strict confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work or a related field.
- Must be registered and a member in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers.
- 1-3 years of related work or volunteer experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local Indigenous communities, culture, and history.
- Experience in relationship and partnership development with Indigenous communities and organizations, provincial, federal, and private sectors considered an asset.
- Preference will be given to qualified candidates of Indigenous descent.
- A Criminal Background/Vulnerable Sector and Social Development check is required of successful applicants.

Salary: Starts at $65,000, based on experience and qualifications
