The unique aspect of this full-time Floating Operations Manager position is that you will support all of our sites, either to provide vacation coverage, support an existing manager or to work on a project(s).
Now, if you were to come on board as our Floating Operations Manager, we’d ask you to do the following for us:
- Be responsible for managing the day-to-day food operations at the respective facility
- Handle all phases of food preparation, menu planning and development, operation planning and expenditures, sales revenue generation, costing and maintaining proper inventory levels
- When required, handle unit employee training, staff scheduling, associate supervising, as well as addressing and resolving employee relation issues
- Ensure the unit has strict compliance of the Compass Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations
- Ensure Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) standards are followed in the food preparation process
- Work with the regional marketing team to implement unit level programs
- The ordering of all products in accordance with Compass Groups’ buying specifications
- Maintaining inventory control and reporting as per Compass Group fiscal schedule
- Maintaining proper company cash controls and policies including daily banking
- Complete payroll, period summaries and sales reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Prepare menus, provide ands on food preparation for daily service and special functions
- Maintain appropriate budgetary and cost controls
- Implement and manage the Quality Assurance program
- Other duties as requested by the District Managers or Regional VP

- Post-secondary education plus a minimum of 3 years related management experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls and presentation
- Strong supervisory skills, capable of motivating, leading, and developing associates
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to changing priorities
- Must be very flexible and willing to travel to all locations in the lower mainland on short notice
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office ( Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Take initiative to resolve day to day problems
- Must have own vehicle
- Experience in a unionized environment is an asset
