About MAX Performance
MAX Performance provides academic assistance for high-performance student-athletes. We support students by managing academic portals and coordinating 1:1 tutoring sessions based on subject needs, grade level, tutor expertise, and student availability.
We are looking for a technology consultant and app developer to help us design and build a mobile-friendly scheduling platform for our students, families, tutors, coaches, and admin team.
About the Project
We are looking to create a simple, effective scheduling system that helps students and parents request tutoring sessions, allows tutors to input availability, supports admin approval, and automates session reminders and cancellation messages.
We have a strong understanding of the problem we are trying to solve, but we are looking for someone who can help us shape the right technical solution. We are open to recommendations, including a custom web app, mobile-friendly portal, low-code/no-code solution, or phased build.
This role would be a strong fit for someone who can both advise and execute.
Key Goals for Version 1
The ideal platform would allow:
- Tutors to create profiles with subject expertise, grade levels, and availability
- Students/parents to request tutoring sessions
- The system to suggest tutor matches based on subject, grade level, expertise, and availability
- Admins to review and approve suggested tutor matches before confirmation
- Students to book and cancel sessions
- Recurring sessions to be tracked
- Automated email and SMS reminders to be sent before upcoming sessions
- Cancellation messages to be sent when a session is cancelled
- Sessions to connect with major calendar tools, including Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, and potentially Calendly
- Admins to track session notes and attendance
Future Features
While not required for Version 1, future development may include:
- QuickBooks integration to help track hourly usage
- Parent updates or reports
- Enhanced tutor reporting
- Student progress tracking
- Payment or billing-related features
- More advanced automation and admin dashboards
Responsibilities
- Consult with the MAX Performance team to clarify requirements and recommend the best technical approach
- Help determine whether a custom app, mobile-friendly web app, or low-code/no-code solution is the best fit
- Design and/or support the planning of the app structure, user flows, and core functionality
- Build or help build the platform
- Set up calendar integrations where possible
- Set up automated email and SMS messaging
- Create a simple and usable experience for students, parents, tutors, coaches, and admin users
- Provide documentation and support for the admin team
- Support maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvements after launch
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone/a team who is:
- Experienced in building mobile-friendly platforms, scheduling tools, portals, or operational software
- Comfortable working with a team that has a clear vision but needs technical guidance
- Able to recommend practical solutions, not just build what is requested
- Experienced with calendar integrations and automation
- Familiar with email and SMS notification systems
- Comfortable building user profiles, admin approval workflows, and scheduling logic
- Organized, communicative, and able to explain technical decisions clearly
- Located in Canada or the United States, preferred, to align with our time zone
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Experience with education, tutoring, coaching, or scheduling platforms
- Experience with Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, and Calendly integrations
- Experience with QuickBooks integrations
- Experience with Twilio or other SMS/email automation tools
- Experience with no-code or low-code tools as well as custom development
- UX/UI design or wireframing experience
Project Timeline
Our ideal launch target is mid-August 2026, with the understanding that the project may need to be scoped in phases depending on complexity, budget, and recommended approach.
Compensation
Compensation is open and can be discussed based on the recommended project scope, experience, and whether the work is completed hourly, by milestone, or by project.

Pay: $75.00-$125.00 per hour
