Job Overview
The Millwright plays a critical role in ensuring that all plant equipment and machinery operate safely, efficiently, and at optimal performance. This position supports continuous production in a fast-paced poultry processing environment while maintaining strict food safety and operational standards.
Afternoon Shift - 1:30pm to 10:30pm
Duties
- Maintenance & Repairs
- Respond promptly to all maintenance calls via radio and prioritize urgent issues.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Maintenance Operators to resolve equipment issues efficiently.
- Support and guide Maintenance Operators when escalation is required.
- Perform Maintenance Operator duties when needed due to staffing or workload demands.
- Maintain strong communication with production and cross-functional teams.
Preventive Maintenance
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance such as greasing, lubrication, and equipment inspections.
- Identify potential issues proactively to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operations.
Work Readiness & Tools Management
- Begin each shift fully prepared with tools organized and readily accessible.
- Carry essential tools during shifts to ensure quick response to breakdowns.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Inventory & Parts Management
- Use parts inventory only as required and ensure all usage is properly recorded.
- Report low inventory levels or critical parts shortages for urgent reorder.
- Do not reorganize or move parts inventory unless directed by authorized personnel.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial equipment including conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, and processing machinery.
- Work collaboratively with other Millwrights to ensure equal distribution of workload.
- Coordinate with Production Supervisors to prioritize maintenance tasks during high-demand situations.
Skills
- Red Seal Industrial Millwright certification (or equivalent).
- Experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment (poultry processing preferred).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and industrial maintenance practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, and schematics for troubleshooting
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), CMMS systems, and low voltage electrical systems
- Ability to analyze complex problems quickly and develop effective solutions
- Familiarity with industrial electrician practices and safety standards
- Excellent communication skills in English for clear documentation and teamwork
- Customer service orientation to support internal clients effectively
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
