Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our growing team at Mender Group Inc. Most work is located on the west side of Edmonton, across both commercial and higher-end residential properties.
We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in doing things right the first time, and can think on their feet. You manage your time without being micromanaged, troubleshoot problems on the fly, and figure things out rather than waiting to be told what to do next.
This is not an entry-level position. You will work closely alongside the owner to start — not because we doubt your skills, but because we have specific systems and standards that reflect how we've built our reputation. For the right person, this role grows into a Team Lead position as we add capacity.
Pay Structure
- $33–36/hr base pay (based on experience)
- Performance-based incentives available
- Efficient, reliable technicians who maintain quality standards can earn significantly more
- We believe in rewarding productivity and professionalism — not encouraging people to work slowly on hourly pay
- Tool allowance is part of the compensation package for the right long-term hire
Hours
- Approximately 30 hours per week (3–4 days) to start
- This is a daytime position — core hours are Monday to Friday during regular business hours
- Schedule varies with workload — flexibility is essential and valued in this role
- Genuine full-time path as workload grows — this is not intended to stay part-time permanently
Typical Work Includes
- Drywall patching and repairs
- Interior painting and touch-ups
- Light carpentry and trim work
- Door repairs and hardware installation
- Small plumbing repairs (faucets, traps, minor leaks)
- Fixture replacement (lighting, bathroom fixtures)
- General building maintenance and repair tasks
- Punch list work for commercial and residential properties
- Small to mid-sized installation and repair projects
Work Environment
- Both residential homes and commercial buildings
- Primarily west Edmonton
- Some jobs you will run independently; others alongside the owner or a second technician
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on maintenance, handyman, or general trades experience
- Experience in commercial or residential construction is a strong asset
- Ability to work independently and manage a job site without supervision
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver's licence
- Fluent English is essential — you will communicate directly with clients and the owner daily
- Clean, professional appearance
- Professional and respectful when working in clients' homes and businesses
- Flexible availability during regular daytime hours, Monday to Friday
- Comfortable using a smartphone for digital work orders, job notes, and photos
Tools & Equipment
- Basic hand tools required — come prepared to work
- Company tools and equipment available for job use
- Tool allowance available as part of the compensation package for the right long-term hire
- Company-branded gear provided
Security Requirement
Because some work may occur in environments with vulnerable individuals, applicants must be able to pass a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check if selected.
Ideal Candidate
This role may be a great fit for:
- An experienced maintenance technician ready to step into a lead role
- A skilled handyman with commercial or residential building experience
- A natural problem-solver who manages their time well and figures things out rather than waiting to be told
- Someone who takes pride in working efficiently and producing quality results
- A person who wants to grow with a company, not just fill hours
