About the role
Porters Infrastructure Products Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Technician to support quality assurance, inspection, testing, and reporting for its precast concrete manufacturing operations in Dresden, Ontario.
This onsite role is responsible for inspecting fresh and finished products, maintaining accurate test records, supporting process control, and helping ensure products meet applicable industry and plant certification requirements.

The Quality Control Technician helps protect product quality, customer confidence, and plant compliance by keeping inspection, testing, calibration, and reporting practices consistent, accurate, and well documented.
The role works closely with production, shipping, maintenance, engineering, sales, administration, human resources, and health and safety representatives.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and classify fresh and finished products each day.
- Maintain daily product, material inspection, and testing data.
- Complete daily production and secondary reports to support accurate inventory records.
- Monitor and maintain a documented quality assurance, inspection, and control program for the manufacturing process.
- Support requirements related to the Ontario Concrete Pipe Association, Plant Prequalification Program, and CSA A23.4 Plant Certification.
- Monitor, maintain, and calibrate inspection, measuring, and test equipment used in the manufacturing process.
- Record material and product test performance, including non-conformances.
- Inspect in-process products for special engineering requirements, fittings, hardware, and other application-specific details.
- Complete in-process inspections requested by production or shipping, including gaskets, coring, scribing, rework, repairs, and special applications.
- Prepare testing summaries, interim reports, compliance reports, and other quality reporting as required.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and quality programs aimed at reducing non-conformance and production issues.
- Running in plant Core drill in between QC duties as required.
- Assist with scheduling and daily production reports.
- Assist with standard operating procedures for inspection, measurement, and testing processes.
- Support special projects as required and agreed upon with management.
What we're looking for
- Post-secondary diploma, preferably from a Civil Engineering Technician program or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of Exact Concrete Technologies System is a strong asset.
- Experience using inspection, measuring, and test equipment, including an understanding of proper procedures and calibration.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, diagrams, dimensions, and related technical documentation.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and MS Office skills, with the ability to keep clear records and communicate findings.
- Willingness and ability to work in an industrial plant environment and outdoors in varying conditions.
- Ability to climb ladders and move safely around operating machinery.
- Basic understanding of quality assurance, concrete products, and related industry standards.
- Ability to work without direct supervision while contributing effectively in a team environment.
- Professional, safety-focused approach, including sound judgment in fast-paced or stressful situations.
- Willingness to work overtime, shifts, and occasional Saturdays when needed.
Preferred qualifications
- Concrete and aggregate testing certification from CCIL or ACI.
- ACI CSA-Based Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 Certification, or willingness to obtain it within the required timeframe.
- Satisfactory completion of Plant Prequalification Requirements for Precast Concrete Drainage Products, or willingness to complete it within the required timeframe.
- Technician certification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- Experience with 3D modelling, including Autodesk Inventor, or willingness to become proficient.
- Equipment or machinery experience in a manufacturing, construction materials, or industrial environment.
Team and collaboration context
This role is expected to report to the Production Supervisor and/or Precast Manager or designate, and to coordinate regularly with plant supervisors, production and maintenance foremen, purchasing, sales, engineering, administrative staff, human resources, and health and safety representatives.
Location and work model
This is an onsite role based in Dresden, ON N0P 1M0. The successful applicant must be able to work onsite at the plant location.
Compensation
- $25 to $28 per hour
- 2 weeks paid vacation.
