Job Summary
This Mechanical Support will support outage activities, including assisting with coupling removal and installation for motor testing. They will also work with our mechanical team on valve changeouts, and PM work as needed. Work requires practical skill and knowledge and journey-level skill as a Millwright or Heavy Equipment Technician.
Duties
- Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics;
- Coupling removal and installation for motor testing;
- Undertake preventative and predictive maintenance program for equipment. Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to assemble equipment and follow work procedures & processes;
- Support the mechanical team on valve changeouts;
- Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions
- must be capable of working independently on tasks such as coupling removal and installation, oil changes on 3500 HP motors/pumps, and valve, gearbox, and actuator maintenance.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, diagnose, lubricate, and perform maintenance work on machinery;
- Recommend solutions to improve maintenance operations. Ensure assigned maintenance projects are completed as scheduled;
- Ensure work is completed safely and an FLHA is completed at the beginning of every job or when a job changes;
- Communicate updates to supervisor to ensure goals are met; Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately;
Skills
- Red Seal/ Journeyman Millwright certification or Red Seal/ Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician
- Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract;
- CSTS/OSSA/BSO/CSO
- Fall Arrest, Overhead Crane, Basic Rigging, Aerial Work Platform, WHMIS,
- Proven safety training and exceptional safety record.
- Able to work independently and as part of a professional maintenance team
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
