We are looking for a hands-on Shipper/Receiver with strong experience in industrial materials, especially metals to join our operations team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced shop/yard environment, takes pride in accuracy, and has experience handling, moving, and organizing heavy materials safely and efficiently.
You’ll play a key role in keeping production and shipping running smoothly by ensuring materials are received, tracked, staged, and shipped correctly. If you have experience with forklifts, overhead cranes, rigging, or loading steel/materials onto trucks, this is a strong fit.
We are especially interested in individuals with a background in welding or fabrication who are looking to move into a less production-focused role while still working closely with metals, steel handling, and shop operations. This position offers a strong fit for someone who wants to step away from welding while staying in the industry.

Receive incoming materials, verify counts, inspect quality, and document all deliveries

Prepare outgoing shipments including packing, labeling, tagging, and staging materials

Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently, ensuring materials are secured for transport

Coordinate with drivers, production teams, and supervisors to ensure smooth material flow
-
Handle a variety of industrial materials, with a strong focus on steel and metal products
-
Move heavy and oversized materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, hoists, and other equipment
-
Signal and coordinate with crane operators during lifts and material movement
-
Properly identify and tag materials with job numbers, heat numbers, and other required markings
-
Track inventory using manual and computer-based systems (ERP experience is an asset)

Verify stock levels and assist with cycle counts and inventory accuracy
-
Investigate discrepancies and report damaged or non-conforming materials
-
Maintain accurate records for shipments, receipts, and material usage

Interpret work orders, drawings, and material lists to prepare shipments and staging requirements

Gather, organize, and stage materials for production and shipping schedules

Kit materials and components to support internal production needs
-
Safely operate forklifts (required) and overhead cranes (asset)

Perform basic equipment checks and report maintenance needs

Follow all safe operating procedures and equipment guidelines

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

2+ years of experience in shipping/receiving, warehouse, logistics, or industrial environments

Strong experience working with metals, steel, or heavy materials is highly preferred
-
Forklift experience and overhead crane experience considered a strong asset

Welding or fabrication background is a strong asset, particularly for candidates looking to transition into shipping, logistics, and materials handling while staying within the metals/steel industry

Moderate to high noise levels (hearing protection may be required)

Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely

Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

Ability to safely climb ladders when required

Comfortable performing repetitive physical tasks throughout the shift
