Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Truck Dispatcher to coordinate and manage freight transportation operations. The ideal candidate will oversee daily dispatch activities, ensure timely delivery, and maintain effective communication with drivers, clients, and carriers. This role is essential for optimizing supply chain efficiency and ensuring smooth logistics operations within our transportation network.
Duties
- Assign and schedule freight loads to drivers based on delivery priorities and driver availability.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) such as SyteLine and AS400 to track shipments, update statuses, and generate reports.
- Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and internal teams to streamline shipping & receiving processes.
- Maintain accurate data entry for shipment details, driver logs, and freight documentation.
- Analyze transportation data to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements in routing or scheduling.
- Communicate effectively with drivers via multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear instructions and updates.
- Manage shipping schedules, monitor freight movements, and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies throughout dispatch operations.
Skills
- Strong understanding of supply chain logistics, freight management, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Experience working with 3PL providers and coordinating complex transportation schedules.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy in typing and record keeping.
- Analytical skills to interpret transportation data, identify trends, and implement solutions.
- Effective communication skills complemented by professional phone etiquette for liaising with drivers, clients, and vendors.
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
