THE OPPORTUNITY
We have an opportunity for a Microsoft 365 Platform Administrator to join our award-winning firm in the Vancouver office.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Microsoft 365 Platform Administrator is responsible for the secure, compliant, and effective operation of Microsoft 365 ecosystem including Microsoft Copilot. This role owns day-to-day administration and governance of Microsoft 365 with specific focus towards Copilot and Copilot Studio (including Copilot agents), ensuring capabilities are scalable, supportable, and aligned to business priorities and responsible AI standards. The role partners with IT, Security, Compliance, Risk, Marketing and business stakeholders to balance innovation with risk, enabling users and teams to safely adopt Microsoft 365 products with Copilot Integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Platform Administration and Operations
- Administer and improve governance across Microsoft 365 aligned with Microsoft best practice
- Administer Microsoft Copilot across Microsoft 365 applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive)
- Manage Copilot settings, configurations, feature rollouts, updates, and service changes; maintain configuration baselines and release communications
- Monitor service health, usage, and performance; triage incidents, coordinate resolution with Microsoft support, and publish operational status and metrics
- Administer Microsoft 365 access and licensing (assignment strategy, eligibility, and cost/usage visibility) in partnership with IT leadership and Finance where applicable
- Implement role-based access controls for Microsoft 365 including Copilot administration development; maintain least-privilege admin roles and periodic access reviews
- Define and run operational processes (intake, change control, environment requests, and support runbooks) for Copilot and Copilot Studio
Copilot Studio and Agent Governance
- Configure and govern Copilot Studio environments (environment strategy, permissions, data policies, and connector controls)
- Oversee the intake, approval, testing, deployment, monitoring, and retirement of Copilot agents, including documentation of intended use and support model
- Define and enforce guardrails for agent behavior (approved data sources/grounding, permissions, connector usage, integrations, and response quality expectations)
- Maintain inventories of environments, and data connections; run periodic attestations and risk-based reviews and ensure timely decommissioning
Security, Privacy and Compliance
- Partner with Security, Privacy, and Compliance teams to align Copilot agent usage with data protection controls (sensitivity labels, access controls, retention requirements and information barriers where applicable)
- Support risk assessments, audits, and policy enforcement for Microsoft 365 applications and AI usage; coordinate evidence collection, exception workflows, and remediation plans
- Coordinate with platform owners to apply and validate Microsoft Purview policies (e.g., DLP, retention) and approved connector/data access patterns for Copilot Studio and agents
Standards, Enablement and Adoption
- Establish standards, templates, and design patterns for Copilot usage and agent creation (naming, documentation, testing, monitoring, and support ownership)
- Create and maintain governance playbooks, how-to guides, and FAQs for business and IT teams using Copilot Studio and Copilot; and other Microsoft 365 collaboration tools as they evolve e.g., MS Teams
- Drive adoption in partnership with Change Management and Training teams (targeted enablement for high-value use cases)
- Serve as an escalation point for Microsoft 365 collaboration tools including Copilot-related questions, incidents, and exceptions; triage requests and coordinate decisions with governance stakeholders
Stakeholder and Vendor Collaboration
- Coordinate with Microsoft and partners on roadmap awareness, support cases, and feature changes; evaluate impacts and plan safe adoption
- Translate platform capabilities, constraints, and risk posture into clear, actionable guidance for stakeholders; provide regular executive-ready updates on adoption and controls
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience administering Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive) and collaborating with Microsoft Purview and security teams
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, and agent-based solutions; familiarity with Power Platform environment concepts and governance
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of information security, privacy, and data governance concepts (identity and access management, DLP, retention, and risk management)
- Proficiency with automation and operational tooling (e.g., PowerShell) to support reporting, configuration at scale, and repeatable runbooks
- Experience operating production SaaS services (monitoring, incident response, problem management, and change control)
- Proven ability to apply responsible AI principles (transparency, privacy, security, and human oversight) in policy, design, and operations
- Ability to work across technical and non technical stakeholders
- Strong documentation, problem solving, and operational planning skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified Enterprise Administrator
- Experience with Microsoft Purview (DLP, retention, eDiscovery) and aligning controls to Copilot scenarios
- Experience with Power Platform administration (environments, connectors, Dataverse where applicable) and ALM practices
- ITIL/ITSM experience (ServiceNow, Jira or equivalent) for incident, change, and problem management
- Background in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC), internal audit, or security program delivery
