Shoreline Pile Driving & Wharf Construction Ltd. is an established marine construction company serving the Okanagan. We specialize in residential docks, commercial waterfront projects, pile driving, boat lifts and other marine construction.
With approximately 30 employees, multiple crane and carpenter crews and several active projects at a time, we are looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent to help organize our daily field and yard operations.
The Position
The Construction Superintendent will coordinate Shoreline’s daily construction activities and ensure crews are properly organized, supplied and supported.
This is a hands-on position involving crew scheduling, yard preparation, equipment coordination, jobsite visits, quality control and field problem-solving. The successful candidate will work between the construction yard, office and active jobsites throughout the Okanagan.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare daily and weekly schedules for crane and carpenter crews.
- Coordinate employees, cranes, barges, trucks, equipment and other project resources.
- Provide crew leaders with clear assignments, priorities and expectations.
- Monitor several active residential and commercial projects.
- Coordinate yard preparation and ensure crews have the materials, tools, equipment, drawings and information required for upcoming work.
- Provide clear material and loading requirements to yard employees.
- Plan several days ahead to reduce downtime, unnecessary trips and missing materials.
- Visit jobsites regularly to monitor progress, workmanship and scheduling.
- Support crew leaders in resolving construction, equipment and logistical issues.
- Coordinate work between crane and carpenter crews.
- Monitor productivity and help keep projects on schedule.
- Identify potential delays, deficiencies, site conditions and additional work.
- Ensure client-requested changes are documented and referred to management or estimating before proceeding.
- Promote and enforce company safety policies and project requirements.
- Maintain clear communication between management, estimators, yard employees and field crews.
- Provide management with regular updates on project progress, staffing and operational concerns.
- Assist with deficiencies, final inspections and project closeout.
Client communication, pricing, contracts and change-order approvals will remain the responsibility of Shoreline’s estimators and management.
Qualifications
- Five or more years of construction supervision, superintendent or foreman experience is preferred.
- Experience coordinating multiple crews and projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, tools and equipment.
- Ability to read construction drawings and understand scopes of work.
- Strong scheduling, planning and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable directing crews and holding employees accountable.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing construction environment.
- Basic computer, email and scheduling skills.
- Valid BC driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record.
Marine construction, pile driving, dock building, crane operations or heavy civil experience is a strong asset. Experienced residential, commercial and civil construction supervisors are also encouraged to apply.
