TERM/STATUS: Permanent Full Time
SCHEDULE/HRS: Flex Time // 37.5 hours per week (flexible hours)
HOURLY WAGE: $26.83 - $29.76 as per collective agreement (2024 rates, implementation of new collective agreement is in process, and new wage rates $28.46 to $31.57 will be implemented once funding is received)
THE ROLE:
The Life Skills Worker (LSW) position provides life skills training to individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will teach life skills such as: achieving independence, obtaining identification, touring colleges, banking, applying for Persons with Disabilities Benefits, using transit and preparing for employment.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:

Degree in areas directly related to Social Services, Human Services, or Education.

2 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in vocational & community settings.

Demonstrated ability to successfully implement instructional and proactive training programs for clients.

Experience with principles of positive behavior management is preferred.

Experience with individuals who deal with concurrent disorders.

Working knowledge or experience designing and creating curriculum for people with disabilities.

Criminal Record Clearance

Medical Clearance

Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract

Class 5 Driver's License

Access to a vehicle
-
Valid First Aid/CPR

Willing to commute throughout Vancouver and Richmond

Non-violent Crisis Intervention Certification

Demonstrated competency in English written and verbal communication

Proficient in Office 365
-
Eligible to work in Canada
Training is provided for: Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
