Location: Olds, AB | Shift: Full-Time | Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM
The Preparation & Installation Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical and electrical preparation, installation, and integration of truck chassis, trailers, and mixer systems. This role supports builds from initial chassis prep through final handoff to testing. You’ll work closely with Assembly, Engineering, and Quality to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and built to spec.

What You’ll Do:
Chassis, Trailer, and Mechanical Systems
· Prepare truck chassis and trailers (layout, measuring, drilling, cutting, frame modifications).
· Install PTOs, drivelines, mounts, guards, fenders, and related hardware.
· Complete mixer installation and final integration to chassis or trailer.
· Ensure proper fitment, alignment, clearances, and torque verification.
· Install and troubleshoot air systems (lines, valves, tanks, brakes, suspension components).
· Integrate heat exchangers into chassis coolant systems.
Electrical Systems and Integration
· Read and apply electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
· Perform wiring, routing, termination, and securing of harnesses.
· Install and connect controls, switches, lighting, cameras, and accessories.
· Complete chassis-to-mixer and trailer-to-mixer electrical interfaces ensuring functionality.
· Work with 12V/24V systems (batteries, relays, fuses, distribution points, charging systems).
· Diagnose and resolve faults (shorts, opens, grounding issues, voltage drops).
· Test systems for functionality (startup, controls, lighting, safety systems).
Build Quality and Team Support
· Take ownership of assigned builds, including quality and sign-off.
· Communicate issues, delays, and material needs clearly to supervisor.
· Work with Assembly, Engineering, and Quality to resolve build issues.
· Support continuous improvement and efficient build practices.
· Mentor and support junior technicians as needed.
· Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
· Perform other related duties as assigned in support of production operations.
What We Are Looking For:
· Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic, Automotive Mechanic, or equivalent experience.
· Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
· Experience with truck chassis, trailers, and equipment integration.
· Solid understanding of 12V/24V systems and diagnostics.
· Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
· Experience with air brake and truck/trailer air systems.
· Comfortable working independently or with a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
· Class 3 License with Air considered an asset.
· Overhead crane experience considered an asset.
· Manufacturing or equipment upfitting background considered an asset.
