Martin’s Bus Service is a bus company that has been serving our communities since 1947. We are seeking a Truck and Coach Technician to perform repairs and preventative maintenance on our buses and fleet vehicles in the assigned terminal and positively represent Martins Bus Service in the community at large. This role reports to the Operations Manager. Transporting the most precious cargo to school each day is one of the most important aspects of a community and we are looking for people with a strong commitment for excellence in customer service and safety best practices. The selected candidate will be expected to perform the following job duties:
· Collaborate with Operations Manager to plan and implement a program of scheduled preventative maintenance for buses and fleet vehicles
· Test drive buses and other fleet vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly; appropriate driver’s license required
· Diagnose malfunctions and perform mechanical repairs on buses and fleet vehicles
· Respond to emergency service calls for stranded buses and other vehicles
· Estimate time, material, and equipment needed for assigned jobs
· Make recommendations to the Manager for ordering and stocking repair parts and supplies
· Maintain the shop area in a clean, orderly and safe condition
· Maintain maintenance and repair records for the vehicles in the fleet
· Perform complete safety inspections as required
· Operate buses and fleet vehicles as required
· Write requisitions, order parts, and ensure parts are received and entered into inventory in a timely manner
· Coach and instruct apprentice mechanics as assigned
· Adhere to WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety legislative requirements; wear protective equipment at all times in the garage
· Other duties as required
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ year(s) experience as heavy equipment mechanic
- 310T licence
- 310S licence is an asset
- Past experience working on school buses is an asset
- Experience using Microsoft Office and other database programs
- WHMIS certification, First Aid certification and Health & Safety training is an asset
Work Environment
- Garage is located in Perth, ON
- Garage environment; exposure to and working with a variety of chemicals
- Fast-paced environment; may experience frequent interruptions
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye co-ordination
- Standing, pushing, pulling, bending, crouching, reaching, laying under vehicles for extended periods
- Ability to lift 100 lbs
- Driving is required
- Overtime may be required to meet business needs
