Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Local Truck Driver based in Brampton to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting freight within local routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving regulations, heavy equipment operation, and vehicle maintenance. Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks to deliver freight within designated local routes across Ontario
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as required, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, paperwork, and documentation for each trip.
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting when necessary to ensure vehicle operability.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and clients regarding delivery schedules and issues.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, traffic laws, and company policies during operations.
- Assist with warehouse duties such as inventory management or equipment operation as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably with a focus on freight delivery within local routes.
- Knowledge of forklift operation and heavy equipment handling is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with automotive repair basics is a plus for vehicle troubleshooting.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred but not mandatory depending on route requirements.
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment or performing automotive repairs is advantageous.
