CNC Machinist - Didsbury, AB
Our client is looking for a CNC Lathe Machinist to join their team in Didsbury, AB. In this role, you will operate Okuma CNC turning centers, programming, setting up, and running machines to produce high-accuracy components from detailed blueprints. Responsibilities:
- Program, set up, and operate Okuma CNC turning centers and lathes.
- Edit and optimize OSP control programs directly at the machine.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, inserts, and fixtures for each job.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T symbols accurately.
- Inspect finished parts using micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges to ensure precision.
- Perform basic daily preventative maintenance and keep the work area clean.
- Troubleshoot machine issues and make real-time adjustments to avoid defects.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality control teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Document work processes and maintain accurate records.
- Stay updated on advanced machining techniques and industry best practices.

Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in CNC setup and operation.
- Experience with Okuma OSP controls.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
- Solid understanding of shop math and trigonometry.
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges).
- Familiarity with metalworking materials and their properties.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members.
