We are not looking for a typical Maintenance Technician. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of a team that keeps a high-performing food manufacturing operation running safely and efficiently every day.
This role is ideal for a power level 4 ticketed professional with over 3 years mechanic experience who enjoys variety, takes pride in solving complex problems, and wants to play a key role in both equipment reliability and plant operations. If you enjoy working on both production equipment and critical utilities (steam, refrigeration, compressed air), this position offers the best of both worlds.
GENERAL
As a Mechanic - Power Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting production equipment while also operating and supporting plant utility systems. Your work will directly impact production uptime, food safety, and overall plant performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Mechanical & Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain and repair processing and packaging equipment, including conveyors, mixers, grinders, pumps, and automated systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Troubleshot mechanical issues efficiently during production.
- Install, align, and commission industrial machinery.
- Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and power transmission systems.
Plant Utilities & Power Engineering
- Operate and monitor boilers to ensure a reliable steam supply.
- Perform water testing and chemical treatment for boiler systems.
- Operate and monitor ammonia refrigeration systems to maintain food-safe temperatures.
- Support and maintain compressors, HVAC systems, pumps, and other plant utilities.
- Monitor systems through gauges, alarms, and control systems (PLC/SCADA).
- Respond to alarms and plant upsets safely and effectively.
Teamwork & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Accurately document work and complete work orders in the CMMS.
- Contribute to and promote a strong safety-first culture.

Work Environment
- Refrigerated food production facility.
- Physically active role (lifting, climbing, confined spaces).
- Exposure to temperature changes, machinery, and noise.
- Flexible schedule, including weekends and shift work.
- Day shift (subject to change based on operational needs).
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4th Class Power Engineer (or higher) with minimum 2 years' operating experience.
- Millwright (apprentice level 2 above) or over 3 years mechanic experience.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and utility systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Experience in food manufacturing or industrial environments is an asset.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented with solid communication skills.

Total Compensation Package Includes
- Hourly wage: $39.75
- Annual bonus based on the company's financial and operational results.
- Vacation: 15 paid days per year.
