Klassen Greenhouse Farms Inc. is looking for a motivated and dependable Assistant Grower to join our greenhouse team. Working alongside our growers, you will help monitor crop production, collect and track growing data, and support the day-to-day care of our crops. This is a hands-on role that offers the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a long-term career in greenhouse farming.
Job Responsibilities include; but are not limited to:
- Assistant Grower must adhere to protocols and procedures as instructed by the Head Grower
- Receive and check fertilizer orders, mix fertilizers and keep fertilizer room clean and organized
- Daily collection of water samples for testing pH, EC and drainage percentages to present to the Grower
- Weekly collection of water samples for lab analysis of Feed, Drain and Media
- Clean and maintain the irrigation systems and its parts such as irrigation lines, valves, filters etc.
- Collect information about bio controls and/or bees and ensure they are distributed and placed correctly and timely
- Monitor the effectiveness of the pollination
- Communicate to the Grower any indications of pests and diseases
- Remove diseased plants for testing and/or disposal
- Support the jobs of cleaning and disinfection of the Greenhouse at crop start up and clean out
- Learn to operate the machinery and understand each crop cycle procedure
- The Assistant Grower must be familiar with all the systems and procedures of the Greenhouse to be able to fill in when the Grower or Supervisors are absent
- Inspect growing areas on a daily basis to inspect crops, status of the plants, crop maintenance and quality of performance
- Monitor that crop work is being completed in set time frames and done properly
- Weekly collection of data for Crop Registration
- Must promote a safe and secure workplace environment
- Maintain high standards of conduct and professionalism

Workplace:
- The greenhouse can be very hot, humid, cold, damp
- The greenhouse may have bees, bugs, and other pests
- Hours will fluctuate to reflect ongoing needs of the farm
- Extended hours during peak periods
Physical Requirements:
- Walking, standing, and heights
- Some heavy lifting
- Working equipment ex. Scissor cart, golf cart, etc.
Compensation:
- Competitive Pay Based on experience and qualifications.
