Summary Job Description
To develop and implement sales plans and budgets for the New and/or Pre-Owned vehicles and to achieve marketing, sales and financial targets. The Sales Manager organizes, directs and controls the activities of the Sales Team to achieve plans and budgets, ensuring optimum use of all material, financial and personnel resources. Reports to the Dealer Principal.
General Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing and agreeing to sales plans and objectives, including new cars, accessories, pre-owned cars, sales related customer satisfaction initiatives, overheads and all related items, to achieve marketing, sales, and financial objectives;
- Responsible for organizing, directing and controlling the activities of sales staff and administrative support to achieve plans and objectives, ensuring optimum use of all material, financial and personnel resources;

Ensures that the sales process is adhered to and actively promoted within the retail center;

Responsible for contributing to the development of all operating and administrative policies and procedures to ensure the completion of all tasks smoothly and in a timely manner; and

Implement and co-ordinate all necessary procedures and actions (including inter-departmental co-operation) to ensure excellence in the areas of; pre-sales, sales, new car delivery, and post sales follow-up.
The Details
- Develops and formulates sales plans and budgets to achieve financial, marketing, and sales objectives;
- Describes and assesses sales potentials and forecasts; develops operating expense and capital budgets; formulates plans and budgets with general manager and informs sales staff to ensure maximum commitment and motivation;
- Supports the Parts Department in the active promotion of Original Parts through display, demonstration, and competitive payment plans;
- Supervises and co-ordinates the activities of sales staff to ensure: maximum direct selling time; effective handling of all sales activities; optimal allocation of effort by sales staff to support achievement of goals in a timely manner;
- Develops and interprets company policies to sub-ordinates; analyses and resolves all related problems smoothly and in a timely manner;
- Creates and develops motivation and commission plans for sales staff to ensure achievement of sales objectives;
- Provides guidance and training to salespeople to improve their job performance, with particular emphasis on: prospecting and customer follow-up; sales presentation and closing; vehicle delivery; time management; sales aids; product knowledge, and all related items;
- Coordinates sales staff participation in Manufacturer training programs;
- Recommends and initiates personnel actions for subordinate staff including promotions, transfers, discharges, discipline, recruitment and selection; and
- Establishes administrative procedures and policies to assist the smooth handling of all business and adequate sales records, including: prospect systems; follow-up call records; management meetings; sales analyses; trading policies and all related items.
