The Gisborne Group is seeking an experienced HSE Officer to support the successful delivery of a major Industrial construction project in the Northwest Territories .
Responsibilities
- Participates in regular meetings with the project management team and provides input from a safety perspective towards achieving project schedules.
- Ensures the site safety management plan is followed for the project.
- Ensures all site-specific safety orientations take place for all employees.
- Conducts incident investigations.
- Ensures all hazard assessments are completed and field level risk assessments are identified prior to beginning work activities.
- Ensures equipment and vehicle inspections are completed and meet safety requirements.
- Ensures pre-job safety meetings are held before construction work begins and daily tailgate/toolbox meetings are held.
- Completes weekly statistical safety reporting for the project.
- Ensures the HSE filing system is in place and maintained for the project.
- Conducts daily site walks to observe workers / procedures and offer recommendation / correction as required.
- Provide positive reinforcement where actions/choices have resulted in avoidance of safety infractions
- Complies with standards and procedures of the Gisborne HSE Manual and Occupational Health & Safety Regulations.
Qualifications
- NCSO or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 + years of working experience as a Safety Officer on CSMP projects
- Detailed oriented professional, with excellent time management and follow-up skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work extensively with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel and Access.
- Standard Level 1 First Aid or Equivalent
- A strong understanding of provincial Occupational Health and Safety regulation Act and Code, Mines Act and other related regulations as per project requirements.
- Strong organizational skills to properly coordinate large volume activities and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication & negotiation skills to work with all levels of the organization.
Compensation:
- $54.00/hour

Schedule:
- 13 days on, 15 days off
- 12 hours per day (expected), 6 hours straight time + 6 hours overtime
