The incumbent is required to perform minor maintenance on the equipment used by the Town with no or little supervision, with orders to be received verbally as needed. Responsible for operating the equipment in a safe manner and must be willing to learn the operation of any new equipment as required.
Equipment or Machine Operated
- Heavy duty construction and maintenance equipment such as tractors, backhoes, loaders, sewer flushers, snow blowers, sanders and any other equipment required for maintenance of Town facilities.
Through use and operation of the Town’s equipment, as described above, perform the following duties:
General Roadway Repairs / Maintenance
- Repair and maintenance of roadways, sidewalks, curb, gutters, boulevards lane grading, street sweeping, repairing of potholes and gravelling of roads.
- Snow removal operations such as grading, blowing, loading of snow from streets and sanding of streets with salt and sand.
- Repair and maintain all traffic control devices, such as signal lights, traffic lights and street signs.
- Repair and maintain boulevards, drainage ditches, culverts, trees and grass on boulevards, parks and playgrounds.
- Repair and maintenance of Town owned facilities in the area of Public Works and Utilities.
Water and Sewer
- Repair and maintain water distribution system, sewer, and storm sewer collection system, while digging and repairing water mains, sewer mains and storm sewers, along with their respective appurtenances.
- Repair and maintenance of Water, Sewer and Storm facilities as required from time to time.
Preventive Equipment Maintenance and Other Duties
- Performance of routine preventative maintenance on equipment operated and assist in mechanical repair of equipment and vehicles.
- Perform other Municipal operations-related duties as assigned
- Must have Class Three (3) drivers’ license from the Province of Alberta with Q-Endorsement
Acquired Skills
- Ability to operate heavy duty equipment operated and/or any new equipment obtained by the Town.
- Willing to take special training through courses or seminars as required.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years Municipal Maintenance Operations or equivalent in construction field for operation of heavy mobile equipment.
- Ability to operate a variety of small, self-propelled machines such as mobile sweepers, snowplows, road distributors, farm or industrial tractors, riding mowers, grass cutting and turf maintenance equipment, and all types of trucks up to and including heavy duty units.
- Willingness to attend training sessions as required by the employer
- Willingness to work weekends and unscheduled hours during major emergencies

Pay: $33.24-$38.75 per hour
