We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our finance team. This is a full time, in-person position. This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career, including individuals currently pursuing or recently completing their accounting designation (CPA or equivalent).
The Junior Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, assist with financial reporting, and help ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative environment.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist with daily accounting activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and maintain financial records, working papers, and supporting documentation
- Assist with bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Help prepare financial reports, summaries, and variance analyses
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
- Support audits by preparing required documentation and responding to requests
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency
- Perform other accounting or administrative duties as assigned
- Other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Ability to analyze problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions quickly, appropriately and under pressure.
- Ability to obtain, organize and analyze large amounts of electronic information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, data organization).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Training & Education:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Currently enrolled in, or planning to pursue, CPA designation (preferred)
- 0–2 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience
