Information Technology Manager – Full-time, hybrid/remote

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Assistant Controller supports the Vice President of Finance by managing day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. This role plays a critical hands-on function within the Finance team, translating enterprise financial strategy into disciplined execution across accounting processes.

LOCATION
This position is hybrid/remote in person in Winnipeg, MB and will be required to report to our Headquarters, located at The Forks, as directed.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Vice President of Finance
Key Relationships: FInance department, cross-functional teams
Direct Reports: Yes
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established controls and accounting guidance
- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
- Manage Retail Sales tax submissions and compliance
- Manage the duty drawback process to submit for duty recoveries
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules for internal and external reporting
- Prepare and review other regular and ad hoc reporting, including weekly Flash and Cashflow forecast
- Support the Vice President of Finance in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and documentation to strengthen consistency and controlI
- Assist with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with auditors
- Monitor internal controls and support risk mitigation efforts related to financial reporting and accounting operations
- Support ERP and financial system integrity, including user controls, data accuracy, and process adherence
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, ensuring workload balance, skill development, and performance accountability
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of direct, progressive experience working in a finance accounting role is required
- Experience leading or supervising accounting employees is preferred
- Experience with ERP systems and QuickBooks software is preferred
Educational Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business is required
- CPA designation or equivalent (completed or in progress) is required
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
