Location: Carp, ON (relocating to Carleton Place, ON in approximately 6 months)
Pay: $20.00–$27.00 per hour, depending on experience

About Sign FX
Sign FX is a commercial signage company based in Ottawa, specializing in custom architectural, wayfinding, and branded signage. We design and fabricate everything in-house — from CNC-routed components to fully assembled illuminated signs. We're a tight, skilled team that takes quality seriously, and we're growing.
Note: We recently purchased a building in Carleton Place, ON and will be relocating our shop there within the next 6 months. Candidates should be comfortable commuting to that location going forward.
The Role
We're looking for a CNC Operator to join our fabrication team. You'll be running our CNC router daily, machining sign components across a range of materials, and contributing to material prep and shop support as part of a collaborative production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC routing and cutting equipment for signage production
- Read and interpret technical drawings, design files, and cut sheets to program machine toolpaths
- Load and secure materials — acrylic, aluminum composite, PVC, HDU foam — for machining
- Perform routine maintenance, tool changes, and machine calibration to maintain precision output
- Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy and surface quality against job specifications
- Troubleshoot machine faults and tooling issues to minimize downtime
- Assist with material prep: sanding, finishing, paint prep, and surface preparation for production
- Support the fabrication department as needed on assembly and shop tasks
- Use Odoo ERP to review work orders, navigate manufacturing orders, and log job progress
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
What We're Looking For
- Experience operating CNC routing, milling, or cutting equipment in a production environment
- Ability to read technical drawings, CAD/CAM files, and cut sheets
- Familiarity with signage materials (acrylic, aluminum composite, PVC foam, HDU, aluminum)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shop
Assets (not required)
- Experience in a commercial signage, display, or fabrication shop
- Familiarity with CAM software such as Aspire, VCarve, or ArtCAM
- Trade certification or vocational training in machining or manufacturing
Schedule
- Monday to Thursday: 7:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Friday: 7:00 am – 11:00 am
- Occasional overtime may be required
