Overview
We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder to join our manufacturing and construction team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in welding and fabrication, with a strong understanding of blueprint reading, schematics, and mechanical systems. This role involves working on diverse projects including piping systems, structural assemblies, ductwork, and requiring precision and adherence to safety standards. The Pipe Welder will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and quality of welded components used across various industrial applications. Travel is required with a mix of shop work as well. This is a unionized position and all hires must pass a SMAW carbon steel 6G & TIG stainless steel 6G test in shop and will be required to sign with UA Local 401. Rates are set to UA Local 401 Journeyman salaries, plus pension and benefits after 3 months work.
Duties
- Perform pipe welding using SMAW and TIG welding techniques to meet project specifications and safety standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately fabricate and assemble piping systems.
- Operate power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and assemble materials.
- Rigging and handling heavy materials with cranes or forklifts to position components for welding or assembly.
- Conduct machining tasks as needed for precise fitting of parts using calipers, hand tools, and other measurement devices.
- Assist in the assembly of ductwork, piping, and structural components according to schematics and engineering drawings.
- Maintain a clean work environment by following safety protocols and ensuring proper handling of materials and tools.
- Perform quality checks on welded joints using basic math skills and inspection tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
Requirements
- Proven experience in SMAW welding, TIG welding, plasma cutting, and general fabrication within manufacturing or construction settings.
- Mechanical knowledge related to rigging, machining, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and assembly processes.
- Ability to operate cranes, forklifts, power tools, hand tools, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Familiarity with ductwork installation, piping systems, schematics reading, and construction standards is preferred.
- Strong understanding of welding codes and safety regulations relevant to industrial welding environments.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations during fabrication processes.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
