PROJECT MANAGER, GAMES

We are the largest private supporter of high-performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including the participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Logistics, the Project Manager, Games will support the logistics of the Games Team’s activities and projects in the lead up to all Games under the umbrella of the COC. The incumbent will work collaboratively within the Games Planning Team to deliver on COC Games objectives . This position will concentrate on the delivery of a world class performance environment for Athletes, Coaches and Support Team at the Games. The Project Manager, Games will be accountable for multiple major impact projects within the Games Planning department for the immediate and future Games plan.
LOCATION
This role will be located in the Montreal office at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West; We currently offer a hybrid work model that allows for up to two days of remote work each week.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES
Games Planning and Operations [Immediate Games]
- Accountable for the planning, delivery, and reconciliation of multiple major impact projects (i.e., Travel, Transportation, Accommodation, Village Planning, Outfitting, etc.) for all major Games in which the COC enters a delegation. Projects assigned may vary from Games to Games.
- Responsible for planning and delivering smaller impact projects as determined by the Games Management Team (ex: Games budget reconciliation tracker for external stakeholders, etc.). Projects assigned may vary from Games to Games.
- Support in the planning and implementation of the COC Games Plan to create winning environments in the lead-up and during Games, including preparation of Games meetings and delivery of operational aspects of the plan.
- Maintain relationships with external contractors, marketing partners, and service providers that support Games operations.
- In conjunction with the COC Marketing Partnerships team, define and implement the vision, requirements, and services of Games time deliverables for COC Marketing Partners.
- Assess cross-functional impacts of project delivery; including budget and project planning as well as broad strategic thinking over multiple projects throughout the Games planning cycle.
- Responsible to manage and optimize products lifecycle, including, but not limited to warehousing optimization, inventory management and optimization.
Liaise with other COC sectors to ensure alignment and communication throughout the Games planning cycle and during the Games.

Outfitting partner
- In conjunction with the COC Marketing Partnerships team, define and implement of the vision, requirements, design and production processes, on-site distribution, Games time partnership activation and on-site partner management, and other related activities.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with outfitting partner’s project teams leads, manage and provide ongoing support to multiple stakeholder groups at each step of the outfitting process.

Games Planning & Operations [Future Games]
- Contribute to the overall planning framework for the next Games.
- Build, establish and foster relationships with local logistics providers as well as the organizing committee in the years leading up to Games.
- In conjunction with the Senior Manager, Logistics, establish the overall logistics planning, research, and contract negotiation in the host city.
Consult as needed in early project development and roll-out and provide coaching and insight to Team members throughout the project delivery.

Collaboration with Own the Podium
- Work with each sport’s assigned High-Performance Advisor (HPA) to understand the individual sports’ realities & plans in the lead up and during the Games.
- Provide solutions or alternatives to identify sports’ needs and gaps throughout the execution of the project while considering available resources (budget, logistics, human resources, etc.).
Consult the Manager, Sports Strategy and Performance Integration during the strategic planning of the assigned projects to ensure the sports lens and needs are considered in the program delivery.

People Management
- Supervise an intern and/or Coordinator, Games, including hiring and onboarding, annual goal setting, annual personal development plans, reviews, and assignment of work.
- Oversee and guide the planning and delivery of other projects completed by the intern and/or Coordinator, Games.
Special Projects
- Contribute to special projects that fall outside of Games specific operations (ex: Youth Olympic Games, Olympic Preparation events, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS
Education and Experience
- University degree or college diploma
- Minimum 4-5 years in multi-sport or international sport event experience and/or proven multi-sport Games experience.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Sport System and major Games operations
Project management experience

Skills and Abilities
- Bilingual (French / English) a preferred asset. Future Games city/country local language skills are an asset.
- Strong project management skills and ability to develop and implement multiple projects simultaneously.
- Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven organization and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining efficient time management, prioritization, and escalation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.

Commitment
- Travel for Games related activities such as site visits and Olympic Preparation events
- Travel for Games (approx. 5-7 weeks during Games window)

COMPENSATION
The expected salary range for this role is $65,400 to $89,870 per year. The base pay within this range is based on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal pay equity, and market benchmarks.
