We are seeking a Manager of Materials and Laboratories to join our geotechnical engineering and consulting client’s team in the Calgary area. As the Manager of Materials and Laboratories, you will be the primary lead for all the Material aspects of the organization. As the company grows, you will be responsible for employees in a leadership capacity and will need to undertake management activities.
Responsibilities:
Provide quality Geotechnical/ Materials Testing for each project's requirements.
- Support the Managing Partner in client meetings and activities.
- Supervise and perform laboratory/field testing duties assigned by Managing Partner.
- Ensure that all reports are accurate.
- Assume accountability and responsibility for actions and assignments.
- Produce and hand—in reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure all activities and documentation is compliant and complies with Safety procedures.
- Provide technical review for department staff or for client submissions.
- Build, maintain and strengthen positive relationships with clients.
- Assist or undertake proposal preparation as required.
Ensure that all related work js carried out In a professional manner.
- Take proper care and maintenance of all equipment, tools, laboratories and vehicles.
- Follow regulations and rules when transporting dangerous goods.
- Always work in a safe manner and know your limits.
- Meet or exceed internal and external client expectations and promote good relationships.
Follow proper procedures and industry expectations.
- Ensure QMS, ASET, and industry standards are met or exceeded.
- Ensure ASTM, ATT, CSA, and CCIL procedures are followed precisely.
- Be familiar with standard specifications for all related work.
- Undertake technical study, research, and review to build technical knowledge and share information.
Maintain a sustainable work environment with the project team.
- Support a positive working team.
- Undertake active communication processes and work activities for the project.
- Participate in the development of the Engineering Best Practices Manual and other QMS activities.
- Mentor and support the development of self and other project team members.
Qualifications:
- Engineering diploma or similar equivelant
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant materials and labratory experience.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general computer literacy.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to collaborate with clients and internal teams to deliver results.
