Journeyperson Automotive Technician (MT-72410) Position Overview
Journeyperson Automotive Technicians, working in a fun, relaxed automotive shop environment, will provide high-quality customer service by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing problems and repairing vehicle systems and related work offered by Market Tire (1976) Ltd.
Journeyperson Automotive Technician Position by Areas of Responsibility
Auto Service (passenger, light truck and fleet)
Duties Include:
- Adjusting, repairing or replacing parts and components of automotive systems
- Performing scheduled maintenance
- Testing and adjusting repaired systems to manufacturer’s specifications
- Performing road tests
- Estimating costs for parts and labour
- Ordering parts for work in progress
- Communicating with front desk staff regarding status of work performed and recommended courses of action and additional repair and maintenance
Ongoing Activities
Duties Include:
- Maintaining cleanliness of shop
- Coaching and instructing team members assisting on jobs
Working Conditions
- Full-time position of 40 hours per week, with possibility of overtime
- Regular business hours (Monday to Friday)
- Open shop workspace closed to the public
- Noisy work environment (e.g., pneumatic tools, power washers etc.)
- Standing, walking, kneeling on concrete, asphalt and gravel
- Professional and fun work environment dedicated to health & safety
- Full access to employer provided PPE (mandatory and must be worn in shop)
Skills Development

Job Specification
- Vocational / Technical training in automotive repair
- Journeyperson AST status
- Open friendly disposition with a demonstrated ability to work well and collaborate with others
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Excellent time management
- Strong logical thinking and decision-making skills
- English proficiency (minimum of CLB 4) in reading, writing, listening & speaking
- Strong commitment to health & safety
- Ability to lift, push / pull, roll 50lb items
- Required CSA approved M-Rated safety footwear
- Owns own tools
- Valid driver’s license
