About the role.
We’re hiring a union Heavy Equipment Operator to support industrial tilt-up projects across the Lower Mainland. You’ll work closely with the site superintendent and foreman to deliver safe, efficient production and clean, accurate grades.
Equipment You’ll Operate
· Excavators: 350, 200 and 130-size (utility trenching, footings, fine grading)
· Backhoes (service connections, cleanup, fine grading)
· Forklift/Telehandler (material handling)
· Roller (compaction)
Key Responsibilities
· Trenching for site services; backfill and compaction to spec.
· Footings, subgrade excavation, fine grading for pads/slabs/tilt-up panels
· Working around utilities and embedded items with care and precision
· Reading stakes/plans; working to laser/GPS grades (as applicable)
· Daily machinery inspection, light maintenance, and accurate equipment logs
· Assisting the crew when off the machine; keeping the site tidy and safe
Minimum Requirements
· 5+ years heavy equipment operating experience (industrial or civil)
· Proven fine-grading skills for slab/panel work and utility trenching
· Strong safety record and situational awareness on active sites
· Valid Class 5 license and reliable transportation
· Ability to work 8+ hour days with potential weather-related down days
· Union member or willingness to join (per collective agreement)
· Ability and willingness to perform other duties onsite, in addition to operating.
· Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Assets
· Experience on tilt-up/industrial sites
· Heavy Equipment Training
· Telehandler/forklift certification
Compensation & Schedule
· Wages, benefits, pension: per collective agreement
· Standard 8-hour shifts; occasional schedule adjustments due to weather
· Projects vary across the Lower Mainland (Chilliwack ↔ Vancouver). Currently operating in Abbotsford.
