Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Backhoe Operator to join our Heavy Equipment Rental team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience operating a backhoe. Experience on excavators, dozers, and loaders is an asset. This role involves performing a variety of earth-moving tasks, site preparation, and material handling based on what our customers needs are. Candidates with strong customer relations, mechanical knowledge and familiarity with Caterpillar equipment are highly preferred. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects requiring precision and safety awareness.
Responsibilities
- Operate backhoe to perform excavation, grading, and site development tasks
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards, reporting all issues to the shop.
- Assist with site preparation
- Load and unload materials efficiently while adhering to safety protocols
- Collaborate with customers to coordinate operations and meet project deadlines
- Follow all safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe work environment at all times
- Utilize mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor equipment issues and performing basic repairs when necessary
- Complete safety training courses provided by employer
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating backhoes.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to heavy machinery maintenance and troubleshooting
- Construction experience with a focus on earth-moving operations is required
- Ability to operate Caterpillar equipment
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and construction sites
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work in outdoor environments for extended periods
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour
